[su_box title="Case study: Highbury Leisure Centre Roof" style="soft" class="services casestudy"]
In August 2020 we are finishing the new roof on Highbury Leisure Centre. Originally re-opened after a major refurbishment in 2017, the building had been seriously damaged in a fire started by the previous roofing contractor. You have to be very careful when working with roofing torches - fortunately we have an enviable safety record at Olli.
A temporary roof was erected to protect the damaged building before we were called in. It had been built with supporting structures within the building's walls, so we needed to remove it in sections to put the new roof on.
New timber framing was built by our expert craftsmen. This is sheathed in aluminium decking which was then covered with roof felt. .....then the X are put on top of the X..... The structure is topped with over 10,000 high quality "Eternit" slates. The roof is huge, 50m long with multiple ridges and chimneys for heating and air conditioning. The chimneys penetrations are protected from leaks with metal flashing and then neatly caulked in.
The results are very pleasing and should last for decades. As usual, Olli goes the extra mile to please our client and build something we can both be proud of.
