Olli Group recently took part in a very tasty community initiative, volunteering at a Community Iftar event held at the Feldy Community Centre in Poplar.
An Iftar is the evening meal during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, when Muslims break their daily fast at sunset. It is not only a time for nourishment, but also an opportunity for community, reflection, and bringing people together. And there's nothing like eating a good meal when you're nice and hungry!
Organised by Poplar HARCA, the local housing association, the event welcomed members of the community to share a meal in a warm and inclusive environment. Olli Group was proud to support the occasion, with a team of eleven volunteers stepping in to help ensure everything ran smoothly.
The team played a hands-on role throughout the evening—setting up the venue, preparing fresh salads and fruit, and serving food to guests. They also provided table service during the meal, helping to create a welcoming and hospitable atmosphere. Once the event concluded, our volunteers cleared tables and packed everything away, leaving the space as they found it.
Beyond the practical support, the experience proved highly rewarding for everyone involved. The team particularly enjoyed engaging with local residents, contributing to a sense of togetherness, and supporting an event that celebrates community spirit.
This initiative reflects Olli Group’s ongoing commitment to social value—supporting local communities, building connections, and making a positive impact beyond construction.
