In the heart of East London, Olli Group stands as a beacon of conscientious building practices. That's according to The Considerate Constructors Scheme who made a surprise visit to one of our sites last month and gave us an outstanding score of 45 out of 45. This perfect score reflects our dedication to excellence in every aspect of our work.
The inspection took place at our project in Marlow Road. This project involves extensive refurbishment works on medium-rise social housing blocks. Our tasks include decorating and refurbishing internal communal areas, external painting, high-level gutter cleaning and repairs, and refurbishing balcony areas. With all flats occupied, the challenge was clear: minimise disruption while we get the job done.
Engagement: We conducted extensive consultations with the community before starting the project, addressing concerns and involving residents in decisions about internal decoration and access to balconies.
Communication: Our team has established excellent communication channels, keeping residents informed and ensuring their privacy and security.
Appearance: The site is well-maintained, with clean, netted scaffolding and daily checks to keep work areas and public spaces tidy. Company signage and information displays are clear and informative.
Community Engagement: Beyond essential communication, our community action plan includes social events and acts of goodwill, enhancing positive relationships with the local residents.
Environmental Management: Our ISO 14001 accreditation and comprehensive environmental policy ensure that our site management systems meet all required criteria. We use non-hazardous materials and have effective waste management procedures.
Carbon Reduction: Our Carbon Reduction Policy highlights our commitment to minimising our carbon footprint. We have acquired land for planting a forest, contributing to carbon offsetting and providing social benefits.
Local Environment: Although not responsible for the natural environment directly, we hired a specialist arborist and landscape consultant to protect and enhance the local garden areas affected by our work.
Fair Treatment: Our equality and diversity policy fosters a positive work environment. Site management actively supports the team with an open-door policy and organises local social events to enhance team spirit.
Safety and Wellbeing: With ISO 45001 accreditation, our safety management systems ensure a healthy, safe working environment. Regular visits from managers and directors emphasise our commitment to safety and wellbeing.
Facilities: Our well-maintained welfare unit provides fresh water and drainage, ensuring the comfort and health of our workforce.
The CCS inspector praised our team's professionalism and high standards of considerate practice. They noted our effective communication with residents, robust environmental policies, and strong support for our workforce. The inspector was particularly impressed with how well we addressed improvement opportunities from previous reports, showcasing our dedication to continuous improvement.
